The BBC is considering reviving Survivors, Terry Nation's post-apocalyptic version of The Good Life.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Sorry, I'm trying to connect time and again, but mostly I have no idea what you are posting about. *looks sheepishly*

That's from living in a backward little country somewhere lost in the middle of Europe, you know, and speaking a language no other people understand...

No reason why should know. Terry Nation is the creator of Blake's 7, and Survivors was the programme he devised before B7: in the first couple of episodes, a plague wipes out most of the population of the planet, and the programme follows the attempts of the survivors to come to grips with the devastation and rebuild society/relearn old, lost skills. It was a bit worthy, but sometimes it was extremely good. I think it would be really interesting to see an updated version of it.

I love survivors even more than Dr Who! I hope its good. Recently my favourite Danish tv programme called Riget or Kingdom Hospital in English got made into an American thing, with Stephen King and it was depressingly crap, no Danish humour and worst of all there was this whole character who was obsessed by baseball. grrrr! I'll lend you the Danish version with English subtitles as I recon you'll love it!

Hmmm. It could be good, it could be bad. I've seen a few episodes of the original "Survivors" but haven't seen the whole thing. It's an interesting concept, but requires (a) engaging characters and (b) NOT having a preachy agenda. If it were an American remake, I wouldn't trust the agenda thing not to pop up, but since it's British, they may be a bit more balanced.

Best synopsis ever.

All we need is Penelope Keith and we're sorted.

I think this remake could be good, I like the idea of making six episodes rather than a long series. I saw a bit of the remade Kingdom Hospital when it was on last year, but didn't see the lot.

The original was a bit preachy, but not overly so. I like the idea of this new one being six episodes, rather than a longer season - the original was pretty padded.

The Danish version was indeed wonderful (I've been leery of the American for that reason).

It's hard to say with Survviors... me, I think (showing my usual instant decisiveness) that it will either be totally wonderful or totally disastrous :) with no real room for inbetween...
