At the bottom of the thread is a great bit from a contributor, wonderfully summing up What's Great About British Telly:
"My all-time favourite Avengers moment - and indeed one of my all time favourite TV moments - is in, IIRC, 'Concerto' where Nigel Stock forgets his lines and is prompted from off. Suddenly the whole history of British TV - as an extension of the theatre - as opposed to US TV - an extension of the film industry - comes beautifully into focus!"
