The storm just cut out all the electric and made my computer crash, but I still don't mind.

I think this time of year seems like a time for fresh starts, and new adventures. Perhaps because for 16 years it was the new school year for everyone.

I feel that way too. Also, I can stop opposite-of-hibernating. Aestivating?

Me too. Always hated hot weather, hate it even more now that my body is doing annoying middle-aged things involving total loss of temperature control...

I'm not looking forward to that, I overheat terribly already.

Yup. Summer is blah. Yay for rain and dark skies and wet grass:)

We had a brilliant thunderstorm - apparently our road was closed off for a few hours because of a bit of flooding. Incredibly clammy now, unfortunately. Ah well, it's straight into winter from now on.

It took me an hour and a half to get home from work because of flooding, I guess. Then I got hit on the head by a hailstone. But I love autumn too. Bring it on.

And here I was just thinking that spring is definitely here, because my blossom-tree is in bloom.

My favorite season, but this being California, it's the wind that makes me happy..Hee.

No rain!

I can't understand you people. I hate rain and wind and darkness. I need sun and brightness and heat. I mourn every autumn for the passing of the light.

But it's spring here. Yay!

Awww, bye-bye summer. You've been kind to us this year. Thank you for the lovely raspberries, rhubarb, strawberries, gooseberries, white and blackcurrants (if i inter-bred them, would i get greycurrants?) and not forgetting the yummy plums.

And the cricket.

And my sun-tanned arms.

Farewell long, warm evenings and early dawns, the sun rising above the Eastern District and painting my room red.

(Our house faces east - the sun rises in summer over the North-Eastern part of the town. At Equinoxes, it rises due east of course, which means the allotments. In mid-winter, it rises directly above the corner of the Telephone Exchange at the top of our street. A mini-Stonehenge!)

I saw Orion in the East yesterday morning.

There's a lot of autumn here in Wales, this morning.

Slightly better forecast for tomorrow, though.

It's so we can start enjoying ourselves grumping about how cold and wet and dark it is ;-D Seriously, though, I don't get on with the heat at all, it drains all my energy. Winter I love because of cold clear days and white light, and Xmas. Mostly though I'm an autumn person - I love damp mushy leaves and how fresh everything becomes.

Yay for your spring!

Ow, your poor head! Apparently the road here was closed for a few hours because of flooding, not that I noticed. I'm glad I decided not to nip out to the library.

Winter I love because of cold clear days and white light, and Xmas.

See, we don't get any of those. Oh, all right, more than two clear days in a row can happen, but it's rare. Bloody hell, I hate winter. I can't think of anything good about it. Months of grey wet and not even a holiday to brighten it. I'm so glad it's spring.

I am being a bit churlish towards summer, since we got a bumper crop of cherries and made some lovely jam. Although I missed the plums because I was too hot to go outside and pick them, and then there was a sudden storm and they all fell off the tree :-( At least the birds are doing well.

I must admit that i'm not a fan of hot waether, unless i can wear my shorts and show off my legs.

Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy Autumn. I love those 'diamond days', when the skies are clear and the air is crisp. I just find it a sad time of year, watching the leaves fall, smelling the bonfire smoke, and then the cold winds appear from the north and lo and behold, it's cold, dark, grey winter again.

Each to their own though.

Fallen plums make good jam - just cut out the bad bits. There's no reason why the birdies should have all of the fun. :-) Our golden plums are ripening nicely.

I've never made cherry jam, although i picked half a carrier bag of lovely free black cherries this year. I love street trees ;-)

I should go and take a look at the plums, although we had incredibly heavy rain at the end of the week, so I'm not sure what will be left.

it's straight into winter from now on.

Lucky you! Where I've moved, winter means a slightly chilly morning and that's about all:( I miss nice cold, windy, foggy winter morning...well, most of the time those became foggy winter afternoons! All those nice winter clothes I bought last year are sitting with mothballs:o

Surprisingly enough, the weather was better than forecast. From a grey and misty start on Saturday, it worked its way up to baking-hot sunshine on Monday. Too hot, in fact, by the end, but it made for some lovely mountain views.
