It was absolutely scrumptious; the figs were sticky and sweet, and the ice-cream was a palate cleanser... Mmm!
It sounds wonderful. *melts*
The buildings on one side were being renovated (you can see the boarding in the background), and they had some sculptures out so it didn't look too ghastly.
Huh. I love it! The French put out statues to make up for the ugly construction work, the Germans hire Deutsche Telekom to produce a giant sheet with a picture of the classic Brandenburg Gate on it to hide the real one when it's undergoing reconstruction. And in America... well, the building down the street has a frickin' huge tractor parked in a wreckage-strewn yard where there used to be a house, and the entire sidewalk between the house and the street, on two blocks (it's on a corner, backed up to a store that's also getting demolished), is fenced off with yellow crime scene tape so we'll notice the copious amounts of glass lying all around, apparently. I suppose it's because it's not a historical moumnent, but still.
There are one or two, although Mr A. is in shot in most of them, and I'm preserving his decency ;-D
