Oh, I just adore the Amber series; well, the first one. I like the second series, but I don't love it; because the ending seemed a copout and Random was too busy to have fun, and Corwin was, well, divided...
But the first Amber series...mmmm. I liked Brand. At least at first.
Are there any Amber/LOTR crossovers? I've always thought that Middle-earth was a Shadow created by Benedict, but I doubt that the Valar would agree.
I wonder how long it would take Benedict to beat Aragorn in a swordfight. Probably teach Elessar some humility. Then they'd go out and have a drink or something.
I'm trying to envision Benedict in the First Age, having fun slaughtering various folks and monsters. He could bring Julian along; hello, Julian, goodbye, Glaurung. Can't figure out whether Benedict would think Galadriel would make a fine Princess; or be attracted to Thuringwethil (spelling? Morgoth's vampire babe) - Benny has rather strange tastes in women.
I could see Brand hanging out with Feanor and possibly beating Morgoth to the Silmarils. We know Brand likes magical shinies.
And of course, to get back to Altariel's LOST, it's a yummy, yummy, jewel of a story!
