Altariel-verse Denethor would not have liked the idea, but perhaps more for reasons of control than of bloodline. In 'The Window on the West', in Faramir's extended lecture on the various types of Men, he talks about the stewards being "wiser and more fortunate" in "recruiting" from other peoples. Whether this stretched as far as Denethor being happy to see his heir marry someone Northern, I don't go.
