It is possible to read a pile of books nearly as tall as me in a year. But the pile of books does not have structural integrity, and will fall over. Therefore, I am better and longer-lasting than books. That's an empirically tested scientific fact.

My trick with the structural integrity thing is to make sure that the piles have something to lean against. Failing all else, they can lean against each other. Of course, extracting a book becomes a rather hazardous affair...

They have been leaning against a cupboard door, but I think I might shove the pile over so that they're in a corner and have a wall to lean against as well. Extracting a book is *very* hazardous.

Short enough as I recollect to be fated to always sit in the back seat of the pickup truck, since you were the only one who could do it and not have her knees to her chin. But much taller and nicer than a rabid mongoose.
