Obviously, it's only in my head that DS9 would win this BBC poll to discover 'the definitive Trek', but no way should it be lagging behind Voyager, fer chrissakes, so go and do your duty and remember - this matters!
I suppose it depends how people understand the question, and I'm not whether 'definitive Trek' means the same as 'best film/series'? (You may want to repeat this to yourself every time you check the current standings. :-))
Screw how people understand it! In no right world should DS9 lag behind Voyager in a poll, unless it's a: "We are cold and need to burn something" kind of poll ;-D
I have a sneaking affection for Voyager. I think it's better than early Next Generation (when I saw the first season of that again, I thought "Oh, yes, that's why I gave up on it when they originally showed it.") Obviously TNG became much better, once it hit its stride (Raiker growing a beard and being written as a proper character struck me as a key moment), but I like Voyager precisely because of its flaws. I look at late TNG and think "Yes, they were trying to do that, and they did it very well" (and on those grounds, I'd probably accept it as "definitive Trek"). But I look at Voyager and start thinking about how I'd fix it. With TNG there's nothing to fix, so I admire the ensemble acting and pass on.
For the purposes of this poll, of course, I am taking "definitive Trek" to mean "the single series which justifies the existence of the whole of the rest of Trek, before and after, though I'm not very bothered whether I see any of the others again".
I had the same problem. First they talk about the "definitive" series, which surely has to be TOS. Then they talked about voting for the one that you prefer, which was what I decided to do. I voted for TNG, though had I seen more than about two episodes of DS9 (which I confess seemed very good), perhaps I might have voted for it.

I recently found S1 of Voyager on DVD very cheap, and picked it up, thinking that maybe I'd been too harsh in the past. I hadn't.
