It was an dreadful Aussie series that seemed to take place mainly on a sand dune in the Red Centre. I remember that acting was wooden and the spaceship was just a wedge. It was shown in Yorkshire - I think in ABC days - on Saturday mornings.

Ah! Very helpful to know it was transmitted in Yorkshire: I suspect that's where my friend saw it.
