Ow...

I just cut my finger chopping onions. Stupid rubbish cooking. Not so badly I need to leave the house and seek out expertise (how dreary would that have been, crossing town in the Friday rush hour?), but bad enough that I went all faint and had to lie down for a bit. It's all plastered over and I can type again now, but I think I'll still take the opportunity to sulk in front of the telly tonight.

Owww!

I'm sorry, I hope you're feeling ok. Let me know if you need anything.

After all that trauma, you should probably order a curry, or something, to aid recovery.

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2007-02-02 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, thank you. I should be fine, it was just a bit bloody for a bit. I have a lovely scrumptious lamb stew that I made yesterday waiting for me to tuck into, I'll save the curry for when I accidentally remove a toe or a hand or something.

You see? That's why we started to use onion cream from the tube years ago!

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2007-02-02 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Knowing me, I'd cut myself on the tube cap!

No, no, not onion cream, use frozen pre-sliced onions! Just like the real thing, only frozen!

I've done that! The only cure, really, is a lot of aspirin and a lot of ice cream. And then some more ice cream after the doctor has finished prodding and cleaning and all that the next day.

Stupid rubbish cooking indeed. Boo to knives. Yay for spoons and forks!

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2007-02-02 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, evil knives! Like those people at the Fat Duck. It's gone very painful now, sob sob.

[identity profile] ladybarnard.livejournal.com 2007-02-02 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, god. I did that at Thanksgiving and nearly threw up and passed out. Other people's blood doesn't bother me (as the mom of a toddler, how could it?) but I cannot abide the sight of my own blood. *kisses the boo-boo* There. Now you have had mommy-medicine.

Oh, bless you! Mr A. is far away in North Carolina, so I am all by myself, and that was just what I needed!

[identity profile] habitkicker.livejournal.com 2007-02-02 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Ouchess! Poor you, evil cooking!

If I were you, I'd take a week off to recover. ;-)

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2007-02-02 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Evil indeed - takeaway is the only safe option.

Heh, a week off is very tempting! - of course, this would come at the end of a week of procrastinating, and next week demands some really dedicated keyboard-hammering...

[identity profile] toft-froggy.livejournal.com 2007-02-02 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh dear! Yes, that's definitely sulk-worthy. Glad it's not too serious. Well, I was going to offer my own (very limited) cooking expertise while you're all alone over the next few weeks, if you don't mind slumming it in Kings one evening... I have Illya! And gay-youth-club-defending Professionals!

Ouch! I'm so clumsy with knives I swear by the food processor. Hope it's feeling a little better now.

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2007-02-02 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
A lot better, thanks - rhino-strength ibruprofen, Boston Legal, and cake. Mr A makes the knife-thing look too easy.

[identity profile] katlinel.livejournal.com 2007-02-02 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Poor you! You should definitely be sulking in front of the telly. Have you got a handy supply of old boots to throw at it in case it's rubbish?

*hugs*

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2007-02-02 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I am having a good sulk. Boston Legal and cake, bound to cheer me up.

I was a bit freaked out when my ears started ringing, but I had a lie down on the bed and whimpered for a bit. Then it started hurting and I started cursing, so everything was soon back to normal! ;-)

Ouch indeed! I tried to cut the top off my left thumb while cleaning up after Thanksgiving, bled all over, rushed off to emergency (everywhere else was closed at 9pm of course!) and they GLUED it back together. You have my sympathy! I'm glad it wasn't bad enough to need more than a lie down and a sulk. Sulking is good for you. I'm a true believer :-)

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2007-02-02 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Eeee! You poor thing, that's much worse than my nick! And it's just always the way that it happens when everything is closed. If this had been just a bit worse, I'd have been slogging right across town to the nearest A&E, in the middle of Friday evening rush hour.

Sulking and cake is making me feel much better, thank you :-)

It's a good thing you're not vegetarian, and don't have to worry about getting it in the food...

Hope whatever's on TV has made you feel stronger.

Must be time for you to make your famous phone call to the curry house :)

I could issue one of my many available "Dad Lectures" on the requirement for presence of mind and due attention to the job at hand while using sharp tools, but I'll spare you.

Delivered curry sounds nice, though I'd opt for delivered Italian.

Some Dad Wisdom that is actually useful...

I have had mommy-medicine and a Dad Lecture! This is better than when I was growing up! My attention did slip and the knife followed, I should know better. I'm usually over-careful.

They don't deliver Italian food round here, alas. There used to be a great service that delivered from a whole set of different restaurants around town, and we could get Italian then (although we usually opted for Thai). Alas, it was far too popular and couldn't keep up with demand, and eventually it folded.

You always have the best ideas!
