Under Torch Wood

I'm sure this has done the rounds already, but I have been in NaNoHell so, anyway: Under Torch Wood.

I saw it and thought of you!

Superb. You just made my evening.

My pleasure!

That's brilliant.

TORCHWOOD AGENT 1
Toshiko Sato. I'm an all-new kind of female sci-fi character for the twenty-first century. I can give computers insoluble equations in Algol.

I hope you got the reference. :)

I didn't - but is it Trillian?

[identity profile] jhall1.livejournal.com 2006-11-14 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Older than that, I think. I believe it's a reference to the Second Doctor's companion Zoe destroying a robot by this means. I remember the incident from watching the story when it was first broadcast, but unfortunately can't now remember which story it was.

Got it now, thanks to a Google search. The incident occurs in Episode 2 of "The Invasion". Here's a site with a complete transcript:

Look at section 12.

ZOE: INTEGER COMPUTE PRINTOUT Y TO THE MINUS X VARIABLE 1

(The Machine begins to whirr more furiously and starts to greet them again.)

ZOE: I'm enjoying this.

Oh, that is delightful! I had completely forgotten about that. Very bad, given my icon.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

snug as a hobbit, pretty as a choirboy, immortal as carbon dioxide, wooden as a horse.

Captain Jack to the life. Brilliant.

It's just so brilliantly cruel!

That's so much better than the real thing...

It is, actually, you're right.

I love Under Milk Wood, but I haven't seen any of Torchwood yet, so I only read a little bit. But that little bit was fun :)

Can't comment directly without signing up to one of their boring accounts, which I don't want to do. But perhaps this will get back to the author somehow:

That was just hilarious, especially the Torchwood mission statement. How nice to know that Dylan is alive and well and working in literary cyberspace.

And I always think, as we tumble into bed
Of little Jack Harness who never was dead.

Ach y fi, ach y fi...

And don't forget to put your spacesuit in the drawer marked spacesuit. And polish the pizzas.
