Tenth doctor's costume

And I was geeking about Edwardian suits just the other day while watching Raffles. Or was it Reilly: Ace of Spies?

Mmmm.

And I'm pleased to see the news on Sarah Jane Smith and Harriet Jones in there, too.

And Tony Head.

[identity profile] espresso-addict.livejournal.com 2005-07-25 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a lot more how I'd imagined the new Doctor might look, which may not be such a great thing. Pretty cute, though.

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2005-07-25 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
It's the trainers that are the clever move.

[identity profile] espresso-addict.livejournal.com 2005-07-25 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
It wasn't till I watched the first episode that I realised the promo pix were showing the 9th Doctor in costume.

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2005-07-25 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
That really was an inspired costume.

[identity profile] katlinel.livejournal.com 2005-07-25 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, suit! And evil catwomen. Of course.

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2005-07-25 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
And evil catwomen. Of course.

How else could it be?

[identity profile] glitterboy1.livejournal.com 2005-07-25 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Icon! That was quick work. (Nice, too.)

Black on white! Controversial!

Here's hoping the new outfit sparks a trend for waistcoats.

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 07:43 am (UTC)(link)
Mr A. brought his magic touch to the icon.

I'd like to see a trend for waistcoats too.

Except that now I've seen the pic full size I don't think it is a waistcoat after all, just the jacket part of the suit worn under the coat. Waistcoats! I want men in waistcoats, preferably with long white shirt sleeves visible!

You need to start watching the snooker.

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 10:20 am (UTC)(link)
And Raffles, if you can get ITV3.

[identity profile] kalypso-v.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 10:44 am (UTC)(link)
Snooker's too artificial an environment for that sort of thing.

Funnily enough, I was thinking about Raffles last night, because Christopher Strauli was on in Fortunes of War on BBC4.

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 12:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I only noticed that Fortunes of War was on round about the third episode, and I'm kicking myself.

Oh, sorry, I did sort of think about advertising it, but I think only halfway through the first episode, which I didn't notice myself until just before it started...

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
No worries, it's bound to turn up again. And it's not like I don't have teetering stacks of DVDs to work through...

Gave me an idea for this... which I hope is too obscure to be obvious.

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I think that there is a first name in common.

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
(And beautiful icon, btw.)

Thanks! I meant obscure to those who wouldn't have it in mind... though I was tempted to stick with Nos 1 and 3 and call it Alias Smith and Jones.

I'd quite forgotten how much I love Charles Kay (http://www.open2.net/open2static/source/file/root/31/28/128829/rhs_balkan_trilogy.jpg). I saw him on stage a couple of years before that - playing a politician in Harley Granville Barker's Waste. And I cast him in a B7 story I've never finished. Maybe seeing him in action again will prompt me to go back to it.

[identity profile] kalypso-v.livejournal.com 2005-07-28 11:08 am (UTC)(link)
He's everywhere! I'm fairly sure I first came across him playing Charles I in a TV play, though that doesn't seem to be listed on IMDB. I'd completely forgotten he played Louis VII in The Devil's Crown, though now I'm reminded I can hear his voice in it.

Hm, I should have a Charles Kay icon, though I've now hit 100 so I'm having to start deleting again. I just need to come up with the right caption.

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 07:36 am (UTC)(link)
It was a present from Mr A.

[identity profile] katlinel.livejournal.com 2005-07-25 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
And that's a mighty fine icon you have there.

[identity profile] katlinel.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Awwww!

He chose wisely with that gift.

I forget, did you watch "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"? Check this out:
