Bye bye baby

Apparently most Britons want Angels by Robbie Williams played at their funeral.

When they turn me into toast, I want Meet on the Ledge by Fairport Convention and There She Goes by the La's.

"Going Underground" by the Jam, surely? With extra irony if one is getting cremated.

[identity profile] eldritchhobbit.livejournal.com 2005-03-11 08:33 am (UTC)(link)
Or you could drop all pretense whatsoever and go with Drivin N' Cryin's "I'm Going Straight to Hell." :)

Seriously? That's just... well, that's just... huh. I like your choices much better. :)

For my toastmaking (nice metaphor), I want Robbie Robertson's "Unbound" and the BBC arrangement of "Bilbo's Last Song." And something vaguely shocking and completely inappropriate by Tori Amos.

And then I want everyone to do the "Time Warp." Or not.

"Bilbo's Last Song" is a lovely one. There's a version of John Le Mesurier singing it rather than saying it as he does on the transmitted version, with his voice all old and wavery.

Always Look on the Bright Side of Life would be a laff

'But remember that the last laugh is on you'

Join in on the whistling...

and 'There She Goes' by the La's.

I now have this as an earworm. That was part of your plan, wasn't it?

And as for 'Angels', well, I don't remember the original lyrics any more. I only remember [livejournal.com profile] sugoll's filk.

Muahaha!

I can only hear the filk to 'Angels' too.

I was planning "Isn't It Grand, Boys, To Be Bloody Well Dead? by the Clancys.

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2005-03-11 10:46 am (UTC)(link)
Good lyrics.

[identity profile] vulgarweed.livejournal.com 2005-03-11 11:09 am (UTC)(link)
No fair! I already called "Meet On the Ledge!" Well, I suppose we can both have it. :)

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2005-03-11 11:11 am (UTC)(link)
LOL! And Tom Lehrer too? "We will all go together when we go...!"

You doctor icons are brilliant :) Especially that one.

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2005-03-11 11:41 am (UTC)(link)
:-D Isn't he the cutest thing? (I bought myself the DVDs today to celebrate.)

[identity profile] gaspode.livejournal.com 2005-03-11 12:13 pm (UTC)(link)
No No - I refuse to admit Fairport Fans exist !!! :)

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2005-03-11 12:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Are we that much of a threat?!?

[identity profile] gaspode.livejournal.com 2005-03-11 01:04 pm (UTC)(link)
:) Sorry

Having Been to several Cropredies (?sp) and drunk way too much cider at everyone I have now decided to relagate Fairport to an Alcohol induced hallucination

;)

That said I still have some great photos from one of the Half Moon Gigs from - Oh about 12 years ago .... That was the one we got Ric Saunders to play Purple Haze on the volin ....

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2005-03-12 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
Brilliant!

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2005-03-12 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
:-D Their gigs at Cambridge Corn Exchange are always very tame, family-friendly affairs (one bloke we talked to had his 4 year old son and newborn baby girl with him). Oh, with beer, of course.

I fear: 'If I'd Lived Right' by Tracy Chapman.

My dad tells us that he wants 'Sugar Sugar' at his funeral :)

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2005-03-11 11:40 am (UTC)(link)
Go your dad! Oh, here it is in super-midi.

[identity profile] crossbow1.livejournal.com 2005-03-11 11:42 am (UTC)(link)
Oy. I thought I was so original for wanting a Monty Python song played at my funeral. But at least it's not that one - I want "The Galaxy Song."

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2005-03-11 11:45 am (UTC)(link)
Brilliant one: "And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space, 'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth."

[identity profile] crossbow1.livejournal.com 2005-03-11 12:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup, I want that line to be the last thing people hear from me!

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2005-03-11 12:07 pm (UTC)(link)
:-D

[identity profile] raspberryfool.livejournal.com 2005-03-12 09:01 am (UTC)(link)
I'd just like a massive B7 filk session. And some Loreena McKennitt. In no particular order.

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2005-03-13 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Good idea.
