Flying a dead ship

For those who are interested, I have spent a happy few hours collecting together my Blake's 7 fiction and putting it online under the account name [livejournal.com profile] deadship, as in: "It takes talent to fly a dead ship." (I thought the title would work if ever I decided to write Firefly fiction.)

Not all of the fiction is publicly available - some of the stories first appeared in zines, and some of these zines are still for sale. If you're interested in reading the locked entries, leave a comment in one of the public entries, or friend the journal and I'll friend back.

Cool! A few hours well spent! Now friended, of course!

Enjoy the fic! It was a very pleasant way to spend the afternoon.

Well of course we wants to read it, my preciousss.

Thank you! What a gracious thing to do for the Greater Good.

And what's with the subjunctive In Re Firefly Fic? Get a move on!

Duly friended.

I do have a FF idea kicking around; I owe [livejournal.com profile] selenak a story...

Yay to both.

Who am I and why am I here?

Great news! Thanks for the heads-up. Just added to my friends list.

Not qualified to comment on the fic, but it looks great, and I loved the 'interests'. Curious that several other people have listed 'doomed love'... :)

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2004-11-22 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I was chuffed to see others keen on 'doomed love'! But no-one else interested in 'domed cities'. Maybe I should try 'doomed cities' and 'domed love'...

[identity profile] executrix.livejournal.com 2004-11-22 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Just one domed thing after another.

Prepare to meet thy dome.

I wonder if they have that painted on the outside of the door? Either that, or All Dope Accept Ye Who Enter Here.

[identity profile] the-wild-iris.livejournal.com 2004-11-22 02:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I see you've been beaten to it!

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2004-11-23 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Still only me with 'angsty dark-haired and cerebral', though.

[identity profile] aervir.livejournal.com 2004-11-23 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I've always thought that this interest of yours referred to Faramir (I'll readily admit that I have a Tolkienesque one-track mind). But if Blake 7 is an old Sci-Fi show with angsty, dark-haired, cerebral (and handsome?) characters, I might be worth viewing even for people living completely oblivious of all things SF (like me, for example) ...

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2004-11-23 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, my AD-HaC interests range widely, from TV to books and back. I am collecting quite a set, Faramir included.

If you don't mind flaky sets and flaky acting, you might well be fine with B7. There is one particular angsty, dark-haired and cerebral character in it.

[identity profile] aervir.livejournal.com 2004-11-24 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
If you don't mind flaky sets and flaky acting, you might well be fine with B7.

Oooh, flaky sets and flaky acting -- like in ST:TOS or (even better) "Space Patrol: The Adventures of the Orion"? :)

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2004-11-24 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
I have not seen Space Patrol, although a quick surf suggests I would like it immensely. B7 is very like Dr Who, only it all takes much longer.

[identity profile] aervir.livejournal.com 2004-11-24 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I haven't seen Dr. Who -- it is rather hard to get in Germany unless you immediately want to buy the whole series (or at least a set of episodes) on video. I suspect I might have the same problem with Blake 7.

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2004-11-24 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
It's hard to get B7 here in the UK these days; the DVDs are having something of an erratic release. Not sure if the videos are even still available.

[identity profile] aervir.livejournal.com 2004-11-25 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
I think there goes my hope of broadening my horizons as far as flaky space operas are concerned. I guess I'll just have to comfort myself by watching a ST:TOS re-run over Christmas. Chances are high that at least one German channel shows a few episodes. I'd like to see Tribbles again! :)

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2004-11-25 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
And there's the episode of Deep Space Nine that homages the TOS tribble episode: 'Trials and Tribble-ations'.

[identity profile] aervir.livejournal.com 2004-11-26 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I have certainly heard of that one, but I have never actually seen it. I should probably persuade my Trekkie friends to do a video night together with me. Not that they'd need much persuasion...

[identity profile] hafren.livejournal.com 2004-11-22 02:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Great, that'll be fun!

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2004-11-23 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Friended. Enjoy!

Oh, friended. And just re-enjoyed "Headshots". Did I ever review that?

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2004-11-23 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
Glad you enjoyed it. I think you reviewed when I posted it on my journal a few months back.

Fabulous - that's somehting to look forward to if I ever finish my report cards ;-)

I suspect it's one of those shows that has so little consistent canon that as soon as you have a good idea of the premise (rebels in super spaceship on the run from evil galactic dictatorship), the fanfic becomes intelligible.

[identity profile] executrix.livejournal.com 2004-11-23 07:43 am (UTC)(link)
In more than a few cases, *more* intelligible.

[identity profile] katlinel.livejournal.com 2004-11-23 10:24 am (UTC)(link)
Friended!

Oooh, more Altariel fic. Yum yum.

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2004-11-23 10:36 am (UTC)(link)
Recipro-friended!

I suspect you've pretty much seen everything, but [livejournal.com profile] espresso_addict and I have a nice discussion of Tehanu going on one of the locked entries...!
