"Carrie's War" is wonderful - there was a TV adaptation back in the late 70s/early 80s, I think, and another one over this New Year, which I managed to miss completely, gnash gnash.
I know Jill Paton Walsh primarily as the person who has been writing new Dorothy L Sayers books, based on draft material DLS left. (She spoke at a conference on DLS that I attended recently, and was very impressive.)
But now that you've mentioned a book about Eyam, I'm wondering if that's the one that gave *my* ten-year-old self nightmares!
