I'm going to put in a good word for David Copperfield. I was completely put off it at school by being forced to read the section on David Copperfield's childhood and swore I'd never touch it again. I started to read it a few years ago when stuck with a long commute and found myself absolutely loving it. It has some of Dickens's best characters, both humorous and villainous. The story of Steerforth and Little Emily is tragic, and despite some mawkish bits, it's a very entertaining read.

Is A Prayer For Owen Meany worth reading? I know absolutely nothing about it.
