It was interesting rewatching her story to see how awful her first experiences with the Doctor are: trapped in a recursion, her aunt murdered by the Master. Then the Doctor regenerates immediately, the new one fails repeatedly to get her home, Adric dies, and Nyssa gets Lazar's disease! It sets a tone of mistrust (rather than excitement or wonder) that carries through the character's story arc.
