I would totally watch Obama as the Doctor. "Unfortunately", I think McCain will be the one with time on his hands soon, and he would just scare children more than Daleks.
I fully expect Mr Obama's diary to be rather full for the next 4-8 years, and Willian Hartnell would give a more energetic performance dead that John McCain would alive. In any case, you know as well as I do that Chiwetel Ejiofor is the only rational choice for the role.
Okay, it's fair enough that he wants to leave while it's still fun. Especially since he's probably having the time of his life with the RSC.
And congratulations to the BBC publicity department for making us think that he would still be there in 2010.
I'm kind of dreading his exit episode, though - with RTD and his idea of "spectacular", it's probably going to have a truly horribly idiotic plot. But I guess it will have rocking characterisation and huge angst, and it will make me miss Ten.
No, I am not going to speculate on the replacement. We shall see when we shall see, and I shall judge him on his own merits. He could end up one of my favourite Doctors, you never know! He'll still be the Doctor.
I'm still looking forward to Moffat taking over the helm. And I guess this means that it's a totally clean sweep, everything his own: new Doctor, new companion. Moffat won't be perfect, nobody is, but he will have a different set of weaknesses to RTD. And I'm getting a bit sick of RTD's failings.
OMG. Barack Obama would be a totally awesome Dr Who. OMG. I wonder if we could make a case for the British television-watching public needing him more than the American people?
Don't worry! The show's survived this kind of thing before!
I find regeneration time REALLY exciting. I'd have a regeneration every week if I could. Only then it would be Quantum Leap and it wouldn't be as good.
