Here via honorh Nicely written meta. I agree, this is something that RTD gets thematically right, time and time again. I have some real reservations about the way it was executed in this episode which I have difficulty balancing in its favour, but I do love that aspect of his writing. (I still do not think Bad Wolf!Rose technically qualifies as deus ex machina, not even when we had a goddess emerge from the machine!)
